I really don't want to go on a Picnic

One of the strangest weekends I can remember, is a friend giving me a ride home from work, because my car was in the shop. I had made it clear we weren't dating because he wasn't my type. On the way home he stopped at the store and he said we were going to have a picnic. He picked up the items for the picnic and a heated blowup tent. I was a little annoyed because it was Friday and all I really wanted was to go home.
I lived in a mountain state then and when the sun goes down it gets cold. We went to a park in the mountains and I told him it was really cold and I wanted to go home. He gave me his coat and told me not to worry because the tent would be warm.
While he was inside blowing up the tent two police cars came to the park with their sirens going and lights on. They walked up to me and said mam did you know there is a curfew in the park, there has been some strange activity. I said no, my friend was supposed to take me home and decided we should have a picnic. I don't really want to be here.
They said we can't let you drive because his plates are expired. It had never occurred to me to check for an expiration date before I got in the car. The policeman then said, we also think he is intoxicated, so we are taking him to a bus station and you to catch a taxi.
The policeman then drove me to a location to catch a taxi. While we were waiting, he looked at me and said mam I know it is really tuff out there but you can do much better than this. It was all I could do, not to laugh out loud, but I said nothing. I was just relieved to be going home. So I guess check the expiration date on plates before you get in a car and refrain from any unwanted picnics.
