A day in your Life

So I tried to go to sleep one night. I was 12 and I heard my parents talking on the phone. They were concerned about my sister Brenda Sue. She went to get a passport to see her husband in Germany, who was in the air force. Brenda Sue was beautiful, a beauty queen, more importantly beautiful inside. I stayed up all night. I knew something was wrong. They brought the car into our yard, the next morning. I then found out Brenda was in the hospital with a brain injury and a lot of people died, Three 17 year old boys that were intoxicated and ran into her car. They died instantly according to the report. My sister was taken to a hospital and had multiple surgeries on her brain.

About a month later my mom brought her to our home to take care of her. None of my friends came to the house to see us. Some how it made me an outcast.

Why would I want these people as friends. They had just kicked me off the cheerleading team and wanted me to help with their homework.

Unfortunately she was in the coma for 20 years. My life changed in a day. Her daughter never got to know her mother and the outcome wasn't good. So this was a really bad day that lasted a long time. I did meet a lot of nice people. A chiropractor named Dr. Webster who came to our house and gave us all adjustments, thinking it would help Brenda Sue. I cherish the people that tried to help. So remember every day matters and hug the people you love. Every moment matters.
